The Beginning
I’ve always had a deep passion for both medicine
—especially mental health—and art. My roots are in
Medellín, Colombia, where both of my parents are from
and where their work in the medical field deeply inspired me.
Growing up, I often went to the hospital with my dad, and seeing
how his patients trusted and appreciated him sparked my own love for caring for others. Over time, art became my personal form of therapy, helping me improve my mood, mental health, and overall well-being. That’s what led me to create Artful Healing—a project that combines my passions to give back to my community. There’s growing research showing that creating art can reduce the risk of dementia and support emotional wellness. I wanted to share that gift, especially with older adults who may feel isolated or overlooked. As teenagers, we have energy, passion, and fresh perspectives to offer to older generations. Artful Healing is a way to connect through creativity—bridging generations, fostering joy, and using art as a powerful tool for healing.
